Today we had a fire drill at work. The interesting point is how people here act so differently than us in Montreal. lol When the fire alarm starts to beep, every one woke up from their chair and start preparing the "descent". I was surprised to see how people act so quickly cuz us in Montreal, we take our time to get down. We are on the 11th floor, so it's quite a long walk to get to the main floor and then go outside. And the time we were getting down the stairs, we noticed a very little amount of people. Something was unusual...
When we got outside, the responsible of the security of our building made an announcement. He mentionned that today's fire drill was conducted on floor 11 and 12 only, that explains why there were not a lot of people at the stairs. Floor 12 took 2 minutes and 35 seconds, and floor 11 took 2 minutes and 40 seconds. WAOW! I now understand why everybody was so efficient, because they actually take stats of it! haha Apparently, on the previous fire drill, floor 11 took too much time to get down, that's why this time they've made it quick. Then the guy made a little speech about the security of the building, blablabla, then we got back to work. lol
After work, I went to pick up my train tickets to London at a SNCF boutique. Then saw a waffle place and had to try it. Good, but still prefer Wafels and Dinges in NYC much much more.
It's funny to experience things like that in other countries and realize how different we are... Yeah my work is kinda slow too.. In fact, after the firealarm, there's a message that follows and the message usually is 30 seconds long and then you realize if you should leave building or not.. I cannot imagine in case of real emergencies....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I m so excited for you! Will be visiting another country with Fendy soon!!!! I am pretty sure you guys will have lots of fun!!!
