Day 1: L'arrivée

(Sorry to have missed the first post, I wrote it on the first night, but I was really jet lagged to complete it, so please forgive me for the delay)

7h55 Eastern time, the Airbus 380 departed from Montreal Pierre-Elliott Trudeau airport... It was with mixed emotions that I left Montreal. On one side, I am very excited for this new adventure, but on the other side, I know I will miss my close ones so soooooo much! But I guess this is part of the experience. I know it's going to be hard at the beginning, but slowly I will get used to it!

So it's the first time I am flying on such a big plane... it is really nice inside, TVs on every seat with a lot of entertainments, many movie choices AND we get to have 2 meals: a main meal after take off and a continental breakfast before landing. For the main meal, I had beef with mashed potatoes, together with a glass of white wine! :)

After the meal, I told myself I have to sleep because I have to tough a whole day before I can sleep again. I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep, didn’t happen. Tried to change position, didn’t work. Then no long after, I start to feel very uncomfy, was shivering and sweating at the same time… Then I told the next guy beside me to call the flight attendant cuz I was feeling really bad, and I think he could see it on my face…. Then the flight attendant rushed to me and asked me if I was ok, then I told her that “j’ai mal au coeur”. She helped me stand up and let me sit to her own seat, which was quite confortable and has more air to breathe. Then in the following second, I threw up…  luckily I had that paper bag I was holding since the beginning I felt something was wrong. After that, I felt much better and relieved. So yah, basically, I had the worst flight ever, BUT I really appreciated the customer service of Air France!

I got into my apartment around at noon, and it is MINIATUREl!! lol I knew it was going to be small, but not THAT small. Well, to be postitive, let's call it "cute" haha So here's a panoramic picture for you to have a glance on my appartment.

I had to be at Mercer Paris at 3pm, so I left the apartment at 2pm to give myself enough time to find the metro stations, buy the metro pass, and walk to the office building. The metro Navigo pass is very similar to the OPUS card. There’s a picture on the Navigo pass… so yah, I had to get my photo taken for my pass, with my huge panda eyes and eye pockets!

So after getting my pass, I went down the metro station to wait for the metro to come, and it was very fast, I only waited for 2 minutes or so. The train stopped and I was about to board, but the door does not open! Then I looked on left and looked on right, then I realized that we have to pull the the door to open it! What?!? Haha I looked so much like a FOB.

So I got to Mercer on time, at 3 pm. The building is very nice and so high tech! The reception for all the companies are on the ground floor, so no one gets in the building without having access or permission. Then, you have to scan your card, then press the floor you want to go before even going in the elevators, and the digital board will tell you which elevators to go. The office inside has so much light cuz there are so many windows! I LOVE brightness! But what upset me the most is that, from 3pm to 5:45pm, we had 3 back-to-back trainings! And they were intense trainings with a lot of materials! OMG, my brain cells were like almost all dead and you tell me to absorb all these actuarial notions in 3 hours… Well, at least I wasn’t the only one, and I’m sure after I reread the presentations and once I start to do client work, it’ll be all fine.

When I got back home, I decided to take a shower and start this blog… and writing until here, I stopped….
