We had a training today at noon with the RRF (Retirement Risk and Finance) staff. It was about the revised IAS 19 and its implication on the actuarial work in France. For those who has no finance knowledge, IAS stands for International Accounting Standards. And for those who are not too familiar about what I do at my job, we do actuarial valuations of the retirement pension plans for different companies. In Montreal, I work more often on actuarial valuations on funding basis, and here in France, we're doing more valuations on accounting basis. It is interesting to see how France work compared to Canada. Pretty different.
I was doing readings most of the day since I still
don't have that much work yet. So I left earlier to day, at 5pm, to meet with
Winnie and walked around les Champs Elysees. Les Champs Elysees is a large and
famous street with many luxury and specialty shops. It is very often described
as "la plus belle avenue du monde" (from Wikipedia). But I was more
chit-chatting with my cousin more than anything, so I completely forgot to take
any pictures. But don't worry, I for sure will go back to this place!
We spent about an hour there, then I went home. I made supper in that tiny kitchen... but I'm shy to say, I made korean instant ramen! LOL Something that I haven't taste for so long! I brought 5 packs from Canada just in case I don't want to eat outside and don't know what to cook. Don't worry, I won't eat these non-healthy stuff too much! I bought eggs and lettuce last night, so I had this with my noodles. and omg, it took me like half an hour to make my supper! hahaha The stove uses gaz to cook. I have to use a lighter to turn on the fire. I thought it will be faster but it was so slow for the water to boil! And also, for the eggs, the shells are very hard compared to those we have in Quebec. Actually, it says at the supermarket that the eggs come from I-don't-know which farm in I-don't-know which region of France. LOL But although the eggs are of high quality, the pan I had in the apartment is not, conclusion: my eggs all sticked on the pan. lol But my noodles were still very good! haha
After
the supper, I washed the dishes, done my laundry (it took 2 hours!), took out
all my stuff from my luggage which I didn’t have time to do yet, took my
shower, washed my hair, dried my hair and even broomed…. It's crazy how much HAIR you see in 4 days when you live in a 20 meter squared apartment rather than house with 3 floors. I now have to
go pack my stuff for the WE, as I’m gonna to stay at my cousin’s place and
finally can see my nephews!!

Dear honey, I know IAS stands for International Accounting Standards. In French, we call IFRS stands for Normes internationales d'information financière. Before in Canada, we use PCGR (Principes comptables généralement reconnues). Ok, I stop continue the knowledge.
