Day 3 : A smooth one

First of all, it is so weird to write in English cuz everything is so French here! But in order for all friends and family to understand me, I’ll continue to write in the language of Shakespeare although I live in the city of Voltaire *Alice trying to be artistic lol*

Finally I got to sleep last night! Yahooooo! The ear plugs really helped for the sound and the heat helped for the cold! BTW, I emailed the landlord last night telling him the situation, and he called me this morning telling me that he knew the window is due for a change. >.< He explains that the change of windows for the appartment is complicated because it requires the consultation of "le syndicat et la mairie". He told me to continuously keep the heat on and if ever I still find it cold, he’ll try to find a "solution" for me… Well, I’m just scared that my body will be too used to the heat so in Winter, I’ll freeze again!!

So this morning, I woke up at 6:45 and did not snooze!!! Proud of me huh? Unlike yesterday, I got plenty of time to change, to wash my face, to do my make up... and to do my bed! The public transportation went smooth this morning, and I even had the chance to sit down and read the Métro! :)

I didn’t want to be late because we have a "welcome petit déjeuner" at 9AM with the department, for us “les Canadiens”! There were croissants, chocolatines and raisin pastries. They are very small, so I ate one of each, hehe… There were also juices, tea and coffee…. And by the way, their coffee means our espresso, which means small cups with very strong coffee…. I took a cup, and it’s really not bad, well not as bitter as I thought it would be! One of the consultants did a welcoming speech for us, and he said that it has always been a pleasure working with people from Montreal because we deliver quality work and brings good atmosphere in the office. He said that we may not have much work this week, but starting next week, we will experience the busy period here in Paris. haha - NO pressure at all! >.<

So as he said, I didn’t have much work today. I got to have one little meeting with a girl who explained a project that we have together. Then I worked on the data request for the client. In total it took me like 30 minutes… I can’t wait to get busier and have more work to do! I know, it's Day 3 only, not sure if I will say the same thing on Day 30! lol

So me and my MTL colleagues had supper together tonight! We went to a French bistro called l'Enchotte. Many restaurants in Paris open their doors for supper at 7:30PM, so we got there at 8:00PM.  The menu was on a board and we can choose a meal or a "table d'hôte" at 23 euros which comprise of an appetizer + the main dish + dessert or cheese, or at 28 euros which include both dessert and cheese. Since the appetizers where not very catchy to me and didn't want too have a too heavy supper since it was quite late, I just ordered a main dish and we share a bottle of wine.

From top to bottom, left to right:
Mélissa, Daniel, me, Stéphanie (Guillaume gf), Guillaume
It was cool because we can pay with our restaurant tickets. Actually, as I mentionned previously, lunch is paid when we eat at the cantine. But we also got to buy some restaurant tickets that most restaurant accept. Each tickets costs 8 euros and 25 cents, and the company pays half of it. The limit of the use of tickets are different from restaurant to restaurant, but in this one, we were allowed to use any amount of tickets we wanted. Apparently, the tickets can also be used in grocery stores too! As employee, we are allowed to buy only one ticket per working day.

Because the restaurant was very close to Guillaume's place, they all went to visit his appartment after the dinner. But since it was already 10:30 pm and I lived further, I decided to leave and come back "home" for my blogging and to take a rest.

So that's about it for the day! Goodnight!

PS: Sorry to not have posted more interesting pictures but I still didn't get any chance to visit yet.
PS2:  I guess I am going too into the details in my posts. It's taking me an infinite amount of time to write... I'll try to be more brief in the future but with quality content.
PS3: I was expecting more comments than that. I had 68 views yesterday and 76 page views today but only 3 comments.... what's that?? If you want to motivate me writing, then give me your feedbacks and let me know that I'm in your thoughts! I will feel less lonely!! :)
PS4: I changed the time zone of my blog, it's now showing the Paris time.

    1. The couponing system is great, and I think most companies offer it ! Winnie told me it’s the obligations in Paris that the companies pay 50% of the metro pass and pay a part of the lunch. Yah, point form is a good idea. I’ve thought about more pictures later on, so I can write less! You know, a picture worth a thousand words right? Restaurants are not amazing until now…. I have to find time to do my own research and search for good restaurants. Seriously, I preferred l’Académie than last night’s resto…
